The Challenge

Crab Boil had built a cult following across 3 locations in Toronto and Ottawa, with 202K combined social followers. Their dining rooms were packed on weekends. The food was undeniable. But their digital presence had critical gaps that were leaving money on the table every single day.

Here’s what we found when we ran the initial audit:

  • Website SEO score of 28/100. Their React-based website rendered as a blank page to Google. Every search engine saw an empty shell where a restaurant should have been.
  • 523,000 monthly searches for halal seafood boil terms where Crab Boil was completely invisible. People were actively searching for exactly what they sell, and finding competitors instead.
  • Far behind their main competitor (Captain’s Boil) on content posting frequency. Captain’s Boil was posting 5-8 times per week while Crab Boil averaged once.
  • No Google Business Profile optimization across any of their 3 locations. Hours were inconsistent, categories were wrong, photos were outdated, and review responses were nonexistent.
  • Halal certification was invisible in all digital channels. Their single biggest differentiator in the GTA market was buried and unleveraged.

The gap between their real-world reputation and their digital presence was massive. They were winning in the dining room but losing online.

What Forge Did

We deployed two core systems from The Forge Growth System: SearchForge and ContentForge.

SearchForge: Be Found

The first priority was making Crab Boil visible to the hundreds of thousands of people already searching for what they serve.

  • Google Business Profile overhaul across all 3 locations. We fixed categories, updated hours for accuracy, added professional photos, wrote keyword-rich descriptions, and activated Google Posts on a weekly schedule.
  • Local SEO strategy built around halal seafood boil search terms. We mapped out the 523K monthly search opportunity and identified the highest-intent keywords to target first.
  • Citation management to ensure consistent NAP (name, address, phone) across every directory, map service, and aggregator that matters in the GTA.
  • AI search visibility setup. We structured their content and business information so that ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity could accurately surface Crab Boil when users ask about halal seafood in Toronto or Ottawa.

ContentForge: Be Chosen

Visibility without content is a dead end. We needed to fill the gap between Crab Boil’s once-a-week posting and their competitors’ daily output.

  • On-site video production at each location. Our team filmed behind-the-scenes kitchen content, sizzle reels, customer reactions, and staff personality pieces.
  • Content calendar that took posting frequency from 1 per week to 5-8 per week across TikTok, Instagram, and Google.
  • Platform-specific content designed for how each platform works. What performs on TikTok is different from what performs on Instagram, and both are different from Google Posts. We built content for each.
  • Halal positioning woven into content strategy. Instead of burying their certification, we made it a core part of the brand story in every piece of content.

The Results

The results came in layers, exactly how a growth system is supposed to work.

  • Captured a share of the 523K monthly search market they were completely missing. For the first time, people searching for halal seafood boil in Toronto and Ottawa were finding Crab Boil in Google Maps and organic search results.
  • 4x increase in content production velocity. From 1 post per week to 5-8, with content designed for each platform and optimized for engagement.
  • GBP listings fully optimized with halal positioning, accurate hours, professional photos, correct categories, and active Google Posts across all 3 locations.
  • Halal certification prominently positioned across all digital touchpoints. What was their biggest hidden advantage became their most visible differentiator.
  • Review monitoring and response system implemented across all locations. Every review now gets a response, and new review requests go out consistently.

Why It Matters

Crab Boil didn’t need more followers. They already had 202K. What they needed was a system to convert that attention into searchability, discoverability, and repeat visits.

That’s the difference between marketing tactics and a growth system. Tactics get you posts. A system gets you found, gets you chosen, and gets you remembered.

Social followers are a vanity metric if those followers can’t find you when they search. Crab Boil had the audience. Forge built the infrastructure to make that audience work harder.

That’s what The Forge Growth System delivers.
